What can you expect from the ISF course?

ISF Course

The Institute of Sporting Futures vocational sports qualification has been specifically developed for post-16 school leavers. The two-year programme provides all the necessary qualifications to build them a lucrative career in sports coaching.

The pathway is a viable alternative to A-Levels and apprenticeships. Students learn adaptable sports coaching skills in recognisable learning environments, helping them transition smoothly into a coaching mindset. Classroom learning, placements, and a purpose-built understanding of the sector mean they can choose their next steps. Whether they take their Level 3 qualification into employment or use it as UCAS points towards tertiary education – the choice is theirs.

Our course ambassador is Olympic champion and founder of Jennis Fitness, Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill. As a successful athlete, northern powerhouse, and stellar role model, she embodies the goals that make ISF so unique. It’s our shared values in discipline, perseverance, and a commitment to offering real-world experiences and qualifications to young people that make this partnership work.

The partners that contribute to our program are an everyday part of the experience for ISF students. Not only are they working to become world-class coaches, but they do so with the support and guidance of industry experts, coaching, events, and training. They benefit from the insight of Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill throughout the course physically and virtually.

A typical ISF student will learn about sports coaching through studies of physiology, nutrition, and psychology. On completion, they will have extensive knowledge of inclusive coaching techniques and be able to effectively, plan, and deliver physical activity programmes to a range of stakeholders.

We want ISF students to leave this course with the physical, mental, and emotional fortitude to succeed. Through their 2 years with us, they’ll gain more than 400 hours of work experience, in leading sports coaching companies, learning their trade with state-of-the-art facilities. Accredited by 1st4Sport, their qualification has the stamp of approval in the leisure, learning, and well-being sector.

Based at the sweeping expanse that is the historic Notre Dame School but available across the country, it’s here that we build our students into thriving, confident adults. To find out more, get in touch with our team, or follow the progress of our current students @ISF7_social.

Don’t just watch. Play, grow and achieve with ISF.
